CR:243/1 Noise Monitoring Terminal

The CR:243/1 is a Noise Monitoring Terminal designed for permanent installation, on either a fixed mast, such as the CM:425, or on a building. Normally, the CR:243/1 unit is used with the MK:426A Outdoor Microphone, which provides the acoustic signals to the main instrument, and allows fully automatic calibration using an electrostatic actuator system.

The CR:243/1 has been designed to be operational for many years, and therefore has significant weather protection as well as physical security. The CR:243/1 outer enclosure is constructed from glass fibre, and is resistant to most environmental pollutants that are found in most measurement locations. The enclosure is sealed to IP65 standards, and all connections to the unit are made by sealed, armoured conduit to prevent damage or water ingress.

The MK:426A Outdoor Microphone, designed as a partner to the CR:243/1 unit, also features double environmental protection. The unit incorporates an electrostatic actuator system to provide automatic calibration of the entire measurement chain.

Connection between the MK:426A and the CR:243/1 is usually by sealed, armoured conduit, again to provide the maximum environmental and physical security. The design of the CR:243/1 is to allow the instrument to operate unattended for long periods of time. Therefore the instrument can store large amounts of data internally.

When required, this data can be downloaded to the host computer. This allows dial up telephone lines to be used for communications, and means that the noise monitor need only be contacted when required, typically once every day. However, if communication cannot be made with the instrument, the large memory allows measurements to be made without loss of information.

The standard CR:243/1 can provide most of the parameters required for Environmental Noise Measurement, but these can be supplemented by various options and modules. Please contact Cirrus Research plc for details.

Advanced recognition templates are used to monitor specific noise events, and the multiple Environmental groups allow continuous measurement of the noise climate. The unit will also remove recognised noise events from the measured noise climate information, showing the impact of those noise events.

The instrument will also store and download diagnostic information, as well as any additional measurement functions that have been added to the standard unit

Many of the Cirrus Research plc environmental noise monitoring instruments are capable of support additional data inputs.

The most common of these is the measurement of weather conditions. The CR:243/1 and CR:243/3 units support directly external weather sensors. These sensors are available for the measurement of:

    * Wind Speed & Direction
    * Barometric Air Pressure
    * Relative Humidity
    * Air Temperature
    * Rainfall Volume

This data is downloaded with the noise measurements as required.

An Environmental Noise Monitoring application using Cirrus Research plc equipment can be built as a modular system, with additional monitors and special measurements added as required. A range of software solutions is available to support the hardware.

The CR:243/1 and CR:245/3 instrument have been type approved with their associated accessories by the PTB in Germany. In addition to individual component type approval, systems have also been passed by the PTB after installation. This requires the entire system from the microphone capsule to the computer with the software to provide consistent, accurate information, and represent a significant achievement.

H-A-R-D Recorder - Professional Solid State Noise Nuisance Recorder

Noise Nuisance Recorder V4: The next generation high specification, solid state, touch-screen Noise Annoyance Recorder. Despite the features, this is a simple noise nuisance recorder to use and is the most efficient system available, reducing the time required to to process recording by an order of magnitude.

Unique “unreal-time” i-Player

The ability to reduce the (boring) time spent processing recordings by a factor of x10 without shifting the pitch and tone, makes this the noise nuisance recorder of choice for EHOs who would like to spend their time more productively. Use the integrated i-Player software to listen to a 2 hour recording in only 12 minutes! Process recordings in <10% of the time.

Simplify low frequency and tonal sound identification via frequency analysis.

  •     Solid state recording medium - robust USB key
  •     Auto-calibration and Auto-record quality (Type 1 specification)
  •     Auto-time and date and Auto-archive
  •     Auto-analysis (frequency and statistical)
  •     Listen to recordings on site; control maximum recording time...

Unique end-to-end Type 1 specification covering measurement and recording and re-analysis, not just initial SLM measurement parameters.

Pre-trigger

Pre-trigger allows you to start recording events before they have happened ... Record events automatically using unique triggering that can be tuned to particular types of event... VCR mode for unattending timed recording.

FrequencyMaster

Narrow band frequency analysis made simple :

".. a terrific piece of kit.." Terry Croker, Compair (industrial engineering testing)
".. excellent piece of software.. easy to use. Can't really think of any improvements." Keiran Smith, S Shrops Council

Typical Current Applications for FrequencyMaster include :

  •     environmental noise analysis
  •     environmental and occupational noise control - diagnosis
  •     fault diagnosis - noise and vibration frequency analysis for engineers
  •     product testing - noise and vibration frequency analysis
  •     training - noise and vibration analysis and visualisation

New version 3 of the best selling frequency analyser - now with unique i-Player facilities for high speed subjective sound processing.

Narrow band frequency analysis is a very powerful and useful tool for environmental assessment, source identification, noise and vibration control, machine fault diagnosis and many other applications. The main barriers to widespread use have been a combination of cost and the shear "user hostility" of most FFT analysers. We have removed these barriers. New technology has allowed us to change the rules of waterfall frequency analysis.

Frequency Master makes sophisticated analysis and display techniques accessible to everyone at little more than the cost of a replacement microphone. Real time FFT, 1/1, 1/3 octaves, 3D waterfall plots, digital recording to disk, plot overlays, time trace, data export ...frequency analysis on netbook or tablet pc

Frequency Master can also be used to upgrade to provide tonal analysis for existing systems as it can process sound files from virtually any source, individually or in batches. Alternatively, you can take FrequencyMaster into the field for live frequency analysis by installing it on a low cost netbook or tablet PC when you can take full advantage of the user interface and recording facilities.
